good bye october
well this is it nearly the end of the second month of school and I am in dire need of a break. it’s time like this that i wish that I either went to Trent, or that Mac had a higher suicide rate so that i could have a week off. I’m sure I’m not alone in this wish… The Oct-> Nov switch over is one of the hardest… it gets darker (and i suppose lighter) sooner, Halloween comes and goes and every paper in the world becomes due.
I was reading The Devil and Commodity Fetishism in South America” yesterday and there’s a pretty big chunk of Marxist theory, and it actually made me hate capitalism again. The fact that there are people that just make money off of other money is pretty sick.. But yeah it’s not all that simple, but still.. exploit much.. I feel like I’m in second year again… which I guess is sort of true.
In other news, I like tofu a bit better after an organic cooking workshop, and Bush looks like an idiot again, but the Supreme Court is still a human body short, and over 2000 troops have been killed in Iraq, so just ~1000 more and they will have beaten the terrorists! Bravo. India has offered aid (25m according to the BBC) to Pakistan, which is a good sign, unless they’re just trying to make them stronger again so the feuding doesn’t look like bullying. Oh and the boarder at Kashmir is still closed to aid convoys, so things aren’t completely peachy.
I must go read an ethnography now, and I think, snuggle up with my cute kitten.
Tomorrow should be lovely. Aniversary dinner with my baby, and some other fun stuff ; )
